How do I write a blog?
No, seriously? How do I write a blog these days? Is it worth it? Or is this just another dying art form? *sigh*
No matter what we take on these days, it feels like a waste of time. That imposter syndrome sneaks in again and again. Am I even good at this? Their photos are so much better than mine. I can't write anything interesting. No one is going to hire me. No one will read this.
Who. Cares. And, okay that sounds harsh. BUT I mean it in this way: Do you love what you do? Then do it. Are you proud of the work you're producing? Then keep posting it. Did you find joy in creating. THEN CREATE!! And don't get me wrong, if anyone has been bitten by the imposter bug one too many times, it's me. I'm pretty sure that every other photo I take belongs in a dumpster. But then I stop and breathe, and admire how far I've come. And you know what? I'm damn proud of what I've done.
Take this blog for example. I've never written a blog, I didn't even do research before starting this. I just know how much I enjoy other photographers blogs about their experience and wanted to create in this way as well. Because it's FUN! And I want to be able to create a space where new photographers can learn from my experiences, mistakes, trials. But also about how those things became knowledge, skills and the backbone of my successes. No one starts perfect. No one is going to book a full calendar when they are starting. Heck, I've been at this for years now and I still only ever had ONE fully booked month.
Creativity takes time, learning takes time, and it's so so important to give ourselves that time. It's okay to need breaks, it's okay to ask questions, it's okay to try new styles and ideas. Never lose that spark of joy in what you do.
If you've made it this far and you're still with me, thank you. Although this isn't a long post, or a very detailed informative one either, I am so happy that you're here with me. I'm excited to take the dive into blogging and to hear what everyone thinks.
Send me your suggestions, your feedback, and what kinda things you'd want read about.
Oh. and seriously, can someone please tell me how to write a blog? ;)
